I have to be honest when I say that I have never joined the Tweeting community nor have I ever even checked out this new phenomenon to see if I would even be interested in it. I feel as if the more people talk about Twitter, the more I am opposed to start using it. This is because I am not exactly sure of what the purpose of Twitter really is. Why use this website when Facebook is that plus so much more? Honestly, I have over 1,000 friends that everyone I know is on Facebook. Even if i did decide to set up a Twitter account, I would not even know who has one that would become one of my followers. Facebook offers status updates like Twitter, but also pictures, events, groups, etc. It is easier to go about networking on Facebook because I feel it is much more established, credible and has millions of more users than that of Twitter. I feel that this is the same opinion that many of other web users have who are not joining the Twitter community. It would definitely have been more popular if this site was launched before Facebook's takeover, but since it didn't, it seems to me as if it is almost just a cheap knockoff.
I think that Twitter had become more popular at certain times becuase people were interested to see what the site was all about, set up accounts, and then were never to use them again. Not meaning to knock this site down too much becuase I do feel like it is starting to come back a little bit more recently. There are certain news topics, such as Haiti, or other uprising organizations that have gone about making Twitter one of their main methods of promotion. This leads me to believe that Twitter may be better than Facebook in a way that is geared for more business related purposes. It is easy to track down a busniess or organization's status using Twitter because it doesnt give too many details and distractions that the same company would have using a Facebook page. I feel that if Twitter was used for more organizations, busniesses or important figures rather than socializing then it definitely has not peaked yet. I just feel that Twitter needs a little more time for it's credibility to be established, and webusers need more time to internalize the benefits this website has to offer. People like me need to accept the fact that Twitter is around and could potentially be something of use, especially in my feild of PR.

My First Post
Hello Everyone,
I just created this new blog earlier today. I never knew how creative you are aloud to get with these things, with all the bright colors n such. My name is Nicole Ellis, and I am a 21 year old junior at Montclair State University. I have been into communications for about 4 years now including community college, and then Montclair. We have had to do a lot of work with blogs and online diaries in the past, but it seems like this school is very much into it in the communications classes. I created two other blogs last semester for a group project my class had with URI communication students. I just created this blog for another class called Public Relations Writing. I am excited to take this class because I am finally starting to take classes that are geared more towards my major. I am hoping I will gain more of an understanding of what I want to do inside the PR field, as well as getting to know more opportunities that are ahead of me. I expect my writing to improve tremendously in many different ways, and I will feel more confident when I have more writing assignments ahead of me in this feild. In this blog I will most likely be discussing assigned topics that will be about Public Relations subjects, as well as many current events that involve PR work, so this should be an interesting blog to keep up with. Hope to be hearing from everyone soon!
